FOXBOROUGH -- Gillette Stadium became one big fitness center for about 300 children from a variety of New England schools this afternoon.

Members of the New England Patriots instructed the children at various exercise and fitness skill stations as part of United Way and the NFL's league-wide day of service.

Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski, punter Zoltan Mesko, offensive lineman Kyle Hix, quarterback Ryan Mallett and wide receiver Matt Slater were among the participants.

"It's important to get the [exercise] message out to the younger generation in anyway you can make that fun," Gostkowski said. "If I was a kid and I got to go to Gillette Stadium, I'd be pretty excited."
