In today's round of conference calls with Bill Belichick and offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, there were a few highlights.

Among the topics, the inconsistent kick return unit, Ryan Wendell's snaps at center and getting a few more players involved in the offense.

Belichick on Ryan Wendell playing a couple of snaps at center: "We have confidence in both Ryan and Dan [Connolly]. Ryan hasn't had the opportunity to play a lot this year. He missed most of training camp. We feel like he's a good enough player that would deserve an opportunity to play. He's in there on some goal line situations and stuff like that. Going forward, if we get the opportunity, and depending on how he performs with his opportunities, we may or may not do more of that. I'd say it's more of a case of him as a player as opposed to any problems with Dan's performance. I think Dan's done a good job for us and he's played well all year. He came in for Koppen there in the first game, but Wendell is a good player, too, and he, I think, is more than an emergency type player. He's a guy that can help us too, so we'll see how it goes."

On the kick return unit, Belichick said the group overall needs to improve. Devin McCourty returned a kick against the Giants and may continue to be used in certain situations, but Belichick said not to expect him to be used on a regular basis.

O'Brien on Tom Brady's mechanics: "I don't see anything with his fundamentals. I think we all have to do a better job. We have do to a better job coaching, a better job playing and we just have to do a better job in the game of executing and taking what the defense gives us and obviously moving the ball and scoring touchdowns. ... It's a long season and this is going to be a tough game for us but we've really got to start improving right now."

O'Brien on Taylor Price missing Giants game with hamstring: "I was disappointed for him, but you can't control injuries. And as it was related to that question last week, I really would like to get a lot of people involved. We play a lot of guys and each game go into it with that thought process and we take what the defense gives us. Like in this past game, Wes and Rob had a bunch of catches but hopefully in the next game, we can get some more involved. It's not just one guy, it's trying to get a lot of guys involved."
