Boghosian_02Edelman6_MET.jpgThe Patriots released a statement this afternoon about the arrest of wide receiver Julian Edelman.

"The Patriots are aware of the reports regarding Julian Edelman and will defer any comment to his representatives at this time," the team said.

Edelman was arraigned today in Boston Municipal Court on one count of indecent assault and battery for allegedly groping a woman at a Boston club last night. He was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to return to court in January.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick was asked during a conference call how the incident will affect Edelman's standing with the team.

"I don't think we have enough information to comment on that right now," Belichick said.
