The Patriots have announced that they have released DB Ross Ventrone. He more than likely will be back on the team's practice squad.

There was not an announcement of a corresponding roster move, though it could be time for either DL Ron Brace or OL Marcus Cannon to be placed on the 53-man roster.

This is the ninth transaction involving the second-year player from Villanova since the start of the regular season:

Sept. 3 - Released during cutdown to 53-man roster
Sept. 5 - Signed to practice squad
Sept. 24 - Promoted from practice squad
Oct. 1 - Released
Oct. 4 - Re-signed to practice squad
Oct. 8 - Promoted from practice squad
Oct. 17 - Released
Oct. 19 - Re-signed to 53-man roster
Today - Released
