The Patriots are re-signing defensive lineman Eric Moore, a league source tells the Globe's Monique Walker.

Second-year DE/LB Jermaine Cunningham, who popped up on the injury report yesterday with a hamstring injury likely suffered in practice - he was listed as doubtful for tomorrow's game - will be placed on injured reserve, ending his disappointing season.

Moore was originally signed by the Pats at this late stage of the season last year, and was productive in his time. But he was released out of training camp, which was a bit of a surprise given the team's need for pass rushers.

He spent the season with Virginia's UFL team, so he should be in solid shape.

It was initially believed that New England would promote rookie Markell Carter off the practice squad to fill the spot opening, but Carter may not be ready for the step up just yet.
