The Patriots officially placed defensive end Andre Carter on injured reserve today because of the leg injury he suffered in Sunday's victory over the Broncos.

The Patriots also announced they've signed defensive lineman Cedric McKinley to the practice squad. McKinley has spent part of the season on the Vikings' practice squad.
