It isn't news that what the NFL fines players for and the amount of money it fines players for certain transgressions are sometimes a little wonky - and today is one of those cases.

Wes Welker was fined $10,000 by the league for wearing an "unauthorized hat during his postgame interview," according to a league spokesman.

Welker tweeted about the fine and wasn't too happy about it, writing, "Got fined by the NFL for wearing a @Bonk_Breaker hat in an interview after the game. Thanks for warning me the other 16 weeks I wore the hat".

Going back through video clips of Welker's postgame interviews this season, he is wearing the same hat in each.

In case you're wondering, Bonk Breaker is a gluten free, dairy free energy bar - Welker says in a later tweet that he is an investor in the company, which is why he wears the hat.
