FOXBOROUGH -- With their final pick of the 2012 NFL draft, the Patriots selected receiver Jeremy Ebert, who had a 1,000-yard senior season at Northwestern.

Ebert went No. 235 overall, and was the second of two seventh-round selections by the Patriots. He's the only offensive player drafted by New England, who addressed defensive needs with their first six picks.

A 6-foot, 195-pounder from Hilliard, Ohio, he was a high school quarterback. Ebert set career highs with 75 receptions for 1,060 yards and 11 touchdowns for Northwestern as a senior. He was on the preseason watch list for the Biletnikoff Award, and had a 208-yard game against Rice.
