The Patriots have talked with the Seattle Seahawks about a possible trade for their No. 12 pick in the NFL draft tonight, according to a report from the NFL Network's Albert Breer.
This inquiry is likely a matter of the Patriots covering their bases ahead of the draft. Last week, Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio said the Patriots have an open door in regard to trade talk.
“Historically, there’s been a lot of movement as it relates to our picks,’’ he said. “So right now is where we are, but the door is always open. And I would say those things kind of evolve as the draft sort of moves along," Caserio said.
While the Patriots have been trade heavy in the past 10 years, the last time the team traded up for a prospect was in 2003 for defensive lineman Ty Warren, who was selected 13th overall.
