FOXBOROUGH -- Defensive lineman Gerard Warren has been re-signed by the Patriots, and receiver Tiquan Underwood has been released.

Warren, an 11-year NFL veteran, has spent the past two seasons with New England. He played in 12 games with the Patriots last season (including all three postseason games), and finished with 16 tackles, one sack, and one fumble recovery.

Terms of Warren's deal were not disclosed.

Underwood was released for the second time in three months. He was released by the team on the eve of the Super Bowl, then re-signed with New England four days later. He appeared in just five games last season, and caught three passes for 30 yards.

New England has a number of receivers -- former Patriot Jabar Gaffney signed on Wednesday -- making Underwood expendable.
