The Patriots have announced that veteran running back Joseph Addai has been released.

Signed on May 10 after spending the first six years of his career with the Colts, Addai was not impressive in spring camps, so his release is not much of a surprise.

The Pats now have four running backs on the roster: Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Danny Woodhead and undrafted rookie Brandon Bolden.

New England also made it official with the additions of TE Visanthe Shiancoe and DL Tim Bulman, meaning it still has 89 players on the roster.
