Patriots practice peek - Welker returns

The Patriots are back on their own fields, holding practice behind Gillette Stadium currently, as they prepare for Wednesday's preseason finale against the Giants.

Colleague Julian Benbow reports that LB Brandon Spikes, RB Shane Vereen, OL Nick McDonald, TE Visanthe Shiancoe, DB Will Allen, LB Tracy White and OL Matt Kopa were not spotted.

S Patrick Chung, WR Jabar Gaffney, RB Stevan Ridley, DL Myron Pryor (PUP list) and OL Markus Zusevics (PUP) were shorts-wearing observers.

Wes Welker, who did not practice last Thursday and didn't play against the Buccaneers on Friday night, was participating.

Players practicing were in shells.
