The Patriots' offensive line will get another boost this week: tackle Sebastian Vollmer has passed his physical and is coming off the physically unable to perform list, reports colleague Greg A. Bedard.

Tight end Daniel Fells has also passed his physical and will come off the PUP list.

Vollmer did not take part in any of the spring workouts or camp to this point after a minor procedure on his back aimed at eliminating the problems he's had in the past. The feeling is that the Patriots were waiting until he was completely ready before letting him practice again.

In his absence, second-year player Marcus Cannon has been playing at right tackle. Logan Mankins came off PUP last week, another veteran to bolster the line, which has struggled to this point in the preseason.

Fells was signed as a free agent in March, and has not participated in camp to this point because of a leg injury.

Neither player will be available Monday night against Philadelphia -- per the rules of the collective bargaining agreement, they must practice two days before they can wear full pads.

Comcast SportsNet New England first reported that the pair were about to come off PUP.
