The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the 27 semi-finalists for the 2013 induction class.

Among those on the list is former Patriots, Giants, Jets and Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells. Parcells was one of 10 finalists for the class of 2012, but did not make the final five. Last year was the first year that Parcells was eligible for induction.

However, he did attend the ceremony in Canton last August: former Patriots and Jets running back Curtis Martin asked Parcells, the man who drafted him, to present him for induction.

The next step in the process is for the 44 members of the selection committee (one media member from each NFL city plus 12 at-large media members) to vote by mail ballot to pare the list of 27 to 15 finalists. Then the day before Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans the selection committee will meet to decide the class of 2013. Hall of Fame bylaws stipulate that between four and seven new members will be chosen for induction each year, though there can be no more than five modern-era players or contributors a year; the sixth or seventh member comes if one or both of the Seniors Committee nominees are chosen.
