FOXBOROUGH --- After releasing veteran wideout Deion Branch and promoting Greg Salas from the practice squad to the 53-man roster, the Patriots Monday bolstered the ranks of their practice squad by signing second-year wide receiver Kamar Aiken.

Aiken, 23, originally signed as a rookie free agent with Buffalo in 2011. The 6-foot-2-inch, 213-pounder out of Central Florida started out his rookie season on Buffalo's practice squad before earning a promotion to the 53-man roster last November, playing in two games as a reserve.

He was released by the Bills at the end of training camp and spent time this season on Buffalo's and Chicago's practice squads before landing in New England.
