FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots had four turnovers Sunday night against the San Francisco 49ers, leading Bill Belichick to address the media with a rather obvious distaste in his mouth after his team lost 41-34 at Gillette Stadium.

"We just didn't play well. We didn't coach well, we didn't play well," Belichick said. "We just got to perform better than that. We didn't so that's the result."

The Patriots were down 31-3 before storming back to tie the game. A fumble by Stevan Ridley and an interception by Tom Brady led to two 49ers touchdowns in less than one minute of game time during the third quarter.

That's when Brady turned it up a notch and led the Patriots on four straight scoring drives, throwing a touchdown and sneaking in for another. But the 49ers were able to put together one more touchdown drive and one more defensive stop to keep Brady out of reach from an outstanding comeback.

"We did some things that were alright," Belichick said. "But we made too many mistakes. We just did too many things that weren't good."
