FOXBOROUGH -- As we wait for the week's first practice report (albeit off a light walk-through), we'll note the Patriots' official announcement on Wednesday of receiver Deion Branch being re-signed.
Branch has played in seven games this season, catching nine passes for 80 yards. He was with the Patriots in training camp, was released before the season, then signed on Sept. 19. He was released again on Nov. 17 after suffering a hamstring injury.
He was at practice on Wednesday, but was not spotted in the locker room, and did not meet with reporters. Coach Bill Belichick, though, was asked about what Branch brings to the team.
"Same thing he brought to the team before: Good level of experience, knows our system, has played for us," Belichick said.
The Patriots also signed receiver Tony Logan to the practice squad. Logan played at Maryland, and was a return specialist, averaging 18.1 yards per punt return as a junior.
