With new menu options like veggie burgers, veggie hot dogs, veggie burritos, fruit plates, and salads in its 38 concession stands, Gillette Stadium was ranked second on the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals's annual list of vegetable-friendly NFL stadiums.

PETA Prime, a website in association with the animal treatment organization, praised Gillette's menu changes, calling choices like black bean burgers and veggie flatbreads "mouthwatering."

"Our research suggested that our fans were seeking more vegetarian options. They have been some of our best sellers," said James Nolan, the stadium's Senior Vice President of Operations, Administration and Finance, in a statement released by the team.

Gillette moved up from a fourth-place ranking in 2011.
