MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- One season before he came to the Patriots, Wes Welker had a nice but unspectacular 67-catch, 687 yard season for the Miami Dolphins. He's been terrorizing his former team ever since.

Welker piled on with another great performance Sunday, catching 12 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown. Since leaving the Dolphins he has amassed four seasons with 100 catches or more and has caught 34 touchdown passes.

On whether he envisioned his future dominance while still in South Florida, Welker said Sunday, "Obviously not like this. But I knew I'd have a bigger role and I'd just try to take advantage of it."

Welker said his goal is never to put up big numbers in a game, but he was one of the lone statistical bright spots for the Patriots in an ugly game. The teams combined for six punts on six possessions in the third quarter.

"They were mixing it up pretty well throughout the game and were doing some different things," said Welker. "They did a really good job. We were kind of on our heels a little bit in the third quarter until we got on that last drive."
