FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are well under way with their game plan for Sunday's season opener at Buffalo.

Quarterback Tom Brady is starting his 14th NFL season against a division opponent he has dominated, going 20-2 against the Bills. And while the Bills have made a coaching change, swapping Chan Gailey for Syracuse's Doug Marrone, Buffalo's new defensive coordinator, Mike Pettine, is a familiar face to New England, having served as the New York Jets defensive coordinator the past three years.

The chaotic defense the Jets sicced on Brady the past few years is something that reminds the 36-year-old veteran of his own offense.

"It's a very good defense," Brady said. "It's a challenging scheme because they use their players very well. I think they have very multidimensional-type players. Similar to what we do on offense.

"We use everybody, they use everybody. Everybody has a role in their defense. Whatever they feel like is working, they stick with. But from game to game, it's always been different. We've got a lot of information on the team based on what they've done in the past. So you really aren't quite sure what they're going to do."

Brady added that the team has to prepare for anything.

"A lot of the focus for the last four days has been just that," he said. "Trying to really try to put together a game plan. We've had three good days of practice and we've got to follow it up with two more."
