It was announced Tuesday that the Patriots have signed tight end Matthew Mulligan to the 53-man roster.
The Bangor, Maine native, who played at the University of Maine, spent training camp with the Packers, but was among their final cuts on Saturday.
Listed at 6-foot-4, 267 pounds, Mulligan entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Dolphins in 2008; he has also played with the Titans, the Jets, the Rams and the Packers. He has played in 50 games with 20 starts, and has 14 receptions for 144 yards and a touchdown.
In addition, New England filled the seventh and eighth spots on its practice squad with two rookie offensive linemen: Jordan Devey and R.J. Dill.
A Memphis product, Devey was originally signed by Baltimore in May, cut on Aug. 30, signed to the Ravens practice squad on Sunday and then released on Monday. He is listed at 6-foot-6, 317 pounds and played both guard and tackle in his two seasons at Memphis.
Dill went to Rutgers, and spent the spring and summer with Jacksonville before being released last week. He is listed at 6-foot-6, 316 pounds and started all13 games at right tackle for Rutgers last fall.
