The Patriots know what they need to do to punch their ticket to the playoffs: Win.

Or tie, technically. The Patriots would clinch the 2013 AFC East title, their fifth straight division crown, with a win or tie in their Week 16 matchup against the Ravens in Baltimore. They would also clinch the AFC East with a loss or tie by the Miami Dolphins.

Here is a list of the Patriots’ other playoff scenarios for this upcoming week:

  • If the Patriots lose, they could also get to the playoffs with some help, as they would clinch a playoff spot with a Cincinnati loss.

  • The Patriots could also wrap up a first-round bye with a win AND a Cincinnati loss or tie AND a loss or tie by Indianapolis.

  • Another way for the Patriots to clinch a first-round bye would be if they tie the Ravens AND Cincinnati and Indianapolis BOTH lose.

The Ravens can also punch a playoff ticket in this matchup, although they would need some help. Baltimore would clinch a playoff spot with a win AND a Miami loss AND a San Diego loss or tie.
