Former Patriots running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis won't survive the final round of NFL cuts. The Cincinnati Bengals, who have employed "The Law Firm" for the past two seasons, will release him prior to tomorrow night's 6pm deadline, according to CBSSports.com's Jason LaCanfora.
Green-Ellis, who never once lost a fumble in four years, 57 games and 557 rushing attempts (including playoffs) as Patriot, lost five in two years as a Bengal. The more likely reason for his impending release though is his salary for the 2014 season.
Former #Bengals RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis was due $2.3M this year, which proved too much considering the youth there. $700K in dead money.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) August 29, 2014
Green-Ellis rushed for 1,850 yards and 13 TDs in his two seasons in Cincinnati. Could there be a resurfacing in New England? Time will tell.
