Gronk Good to Go for Week 1

Our long wait is finally over. Our patience has finally been rewarded.

Gronk is back.

The Patriots star tight end, ravaged by injuries the past two seasons including a torn ACL that knocked him out last December, broke the news himself that he is set to play and will play for the Pats when they open the season against the Dolphins in Miami on Sunday.

Gronkowski didn't play a single snap during training camp and any of the Pats four preseason games. But, as he told ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss, he's ready to roll, both mentally and physically.

It makes sense that the Pats would want to continue being cautious with Gronk. Their 2014 title hopes may depend on it.
