Think outside the hoodie

What to wear

Move beyond the hoodie. Here's three new items fans may want to spring for this season.

Meet the rookies

The team’s top two draft picks share training-camp stories, reveal their secret passions, and more.

Devin Mccourty, Cornerback

Hometown: Nanuet, New York
College: Rutgers University
Picked: First round (27th overall)
What’s it like having your twin brother, Jason -- a cornerback for the Tennessee Titans -- also in the NFL? It’s good. We can call each other and talk about really anything, because we’re both kind of experiencing the same thing.
What was your ”Welcome to the NFL” moment at training camp? Probably every time I line up against Randy Moss. He always makes great catches, so I have a few ”Welcome to the NFL” moments.
If you weren’t a Patriot, what would you be? Probably a basketball coach.
People would be surprised to know you... Love to bowl.
In the movie of your life, you want to be played by... My twin brother.

Rob Gronkowski, tight end

Hometown: Amherst, New York
College: University of Arizona
Picked: Second round (42d overall)
What was your "Welcome to the NFL" moment at training camp? A play where I blast through the wedge and run full speed and try to block the tackle on Vince Wilfork.
What is your first football memory? Blocking a punt and returning it for a touchdown.
Where’s your favorite place to go on vacation? Lake Havasu in Arizona.
What’s your favorite sports movie? Happy Gilmore
Before becoming a Patriot, when you thought of New England, what did you think of? I was always a Bills fan, so I always just thought of the Patriots beating the Bills.

Looking sharper at the Razor

Gillette Stadium has upgraded its video boards to high-definition displays, including the largest screen in an outdoor NFL stadium -- 164 feet wide by 41.5 feet high. What else is new for 2010?
Sam Cunningham

Sam "Bam" Cunningham, the Patriots’ all-time leading rusher, was the team’s Hall of Fame inductee this year. Cunningham, who played nine seasons with New England, is now honored alongside the likes of John Hannah, Steve Grogan, and Ben Coates.

The field has new artificial turf that’s designed to more closely resemble actual grass. And for futbol, it’s the only field in the United States certified to FIFA’s highest standards. Goooooooal!

Espionage is the theme of a new interactive mini amusement park designed to keep fans hanging around Patriot Place. Visitors work together to solve puzzles and overcome challenges. Tackled, not stirred.
