Since he took over as the Patriots head coach in 2000, Bill Belichick has led the Patriots to six playoff appearances in eight seasons. In the playoffs he has an overall record of 15-4 (14-3 with the Pats), which ranks second only to Vince Lombardi for the best all-time playoff winning percentage. Belichick led the Patriots to victories in Super Bowls XXXVI (2001), XXXVIII (2003), and XXXIX (2004) before facing defeat in Super Bowl XLII (2007).
