The coverage units are led by linebacker Larry Izzo (pictured), who in his 12th season continues to play at a high level. Safeties Mel Mitchell and Willie Andrews will also be part of the core personnel, with Andrews showing promise as a gunner on punt coverage. As for the specialists, Stephen Gostkowski follows up a rookie campaign in which he went 20 of 26 on field goal attempts. He was particularly effective on kickoffs this preseason but struggled on field goals (5 of 9). Chris Hanson, 30, will handle the punting chores after three seasons of Josh Miller, though the team has worked out other punters in recent weeks. Lonie Paxton is as consistent as long snappers come, while Matt Cassel will handle the holding chores for a full season for the first time.
