Significant injuries in Boston sports history

Gord Kluzak A bruising defensemen who was the first selection in the 1982 NHL Draft, Kluzak tore ligaments in his left knee on Oct. 7, 1984, during a collision with Devils defenseman (and future Bruins coach) Dave Lewis. The injury required reconstructive surgery, and Kluzak missed the entire 1984-85 season. He reinjured the knee in September 1986, and the injuries eventually forced his retirement at age 27.
