Significant injuries in Boston sports history
On the night of May 20, 1976, The Spaceman got caught up in a rumble in the Bronx, resulting in a separated left shoulder. Lee was punched by Yankees outfielder Mickey Rivers, then was grabbed from behind by third baseman Graig Nettles, who hammered Lee with both fists. Lee was heaved to the ground on his shoulder. "I have never cared for them [the Yankees] that much," said Lee. "They are a great come-from-behind ball club and they have a lot of great players, but I have always been a Red Sox fan and will continue."
