In the Patriots' season opener, the 26-year-old Cassel got the ball when Tom Brady suffered a knee injury in the first quarter. While most of Patriots Nation was reeling from the potential loss of their franchise quarterback, Cassel performed well in a relief role, completing 13 of 18 tosses for 152 yards with 1 TD and 0 INTs, in a 17-10 win.
