The Colts have claimed safety Dexter Reid, released by the Patriots on Monday, off waivers.

“Dexter Reid is a guy we liked coming out of school,” Colts coach Tony Dungy told reporters. “We’ll get a chance to look at him this week and get him in here. We’ll get a chance to see if our evaluation is right. But he was a guy we were very interested in last year. We liked him a lot coming out of school and had good grades on him. He’s a physical guy, a good special teams player, a tough guy and a good athlete.”
