Around the AFC East

Let’s go around the AFC East.

Buffalo (1-1):

The visiting Bills were crunched, 19-3, by the Buccaneers. The team had won its last four road games in a row before this result. Prior to that, Buffalo had been 2-14 on the road.

One interesting note was that Bills coach Mike Mularkey pulled quarterback J.P. Losman for a series in the fourth quarter. That didn’t sit well with Losman.

Next up: vs. Atlanta

Miami (1-1):

The visiting Dolphins lost to the Jets, 17-7, but at least one player wasn’t impressed with New York quarterback Chad Pennington (19 for 30, 190 yards, 2 TD). Miami defensive lineman Vonnie Holliday told the New York Post “the guy cannot get the ball down the field.”

As for the Dolphins, a few players pointed to the Jets’ success on third down (6 of 15) as a key. Miami was also flagged for 10 penalties for 88 yards.

Next up: vs. Carolina

N.Y. Jets (1-1):
The Jets didn’t turn the ball over and fixed their major problem from the opening week: the center-quarterback exchange. Head coach Herman Edwards told reporters the team “laid some bricks” –- in reference to a foundation on which to build.

While Miami players felt Jets quarterback Chad Pennington wasn’t on top of his game, Edwards told reporters: “"The quarterback gets paid to win. He won. That's how I evaluate him."

Next up: vs. Jacksonville

Looking ahead, we'll post after Bill Belichick's press conference, around noon today.
