Gay hobbles through
A couple of observations from the Patriots’ locker room on Monday:
* Cornerback Randall Gay walked through with the aid of crutches and a large black sock up his left leg. He wasn’t putting any pressure on the leg.
* Punter Josh Miller, who appeared to injure himself during Sunday’s game, reported he was fine. We didn't see Stephen Neal (back), who was also injured in Sunday's game, in the locker room today.
* Safety Rodney Harrison, outside linebacker Willie McGinest and receiver Deion Branch drew large media crowds. Harrison and McGinest said the same thing: the Patriots can’t expect to win any game if they play as poorly as they did on Sunday.
* Defensive lineman Richard Seymour was asked if there was anything encouraging from the team’s performance: “I think we did some things we wanted to do. We wanted to take Steve Smith out of the game; he wasn’t a factor (4 catches, 34 yards). And we held them to close to 3 yards per carry (actually 2.9).”
Looking ahead, we’ll plan on posting our next update Tuesday around noon. Patriots fans should definitely check out Jerome Solomon’s chat on boston.com tomorrow at 1 p.m. EDT. It’ll be all Patriots talk.
