Freeman facts

Quick hits on new Patriots acquisition Arturo Freeman:

* 6-feet, 200 pounds

* Has experience at both safety positions.

* A six-year NFL veteran.

* 72 games played, 29 starts.

* Played for Miami from 2000-2004 and was with the Packers in 2005 training camp, but asked for his release in August after it appeared he wouldn’t be starting.

* Played under former Bill Belichick assistant Jim Bates in Miami. Bates’ scheme was similar to Belichick’s in the sense that the roles of both safety positions are interchangeable.

* Signed with the Titans in mid-August but was cut before the first week of the season.

* Plays special teams, with 42 career special teams tackles.
