Rogers works out
The Patriots worked out receiver Charles Rogers, the second overall pick in the 2003 draft, at Gillette Stadium on Friday. The team also worked out veteran receivers Kevin Johnson and Jabar Gaffney.
Rogers played in 15 contests for the Detroit Lions over the last three seasons, totaling 36 receptions for 440 yards and four touchdowns.
Gaffney was a second round choice of the Houston Texans in 2002. He's played in 64 games, with 50 starts, and totaled 171 catches for 2,009 yards. After four years in Houston, he was cut by the Philadelphia Eagles before the 2006 season.
Johnson is a seven-year veteran who has played for the Browns (1999-2002), Jaguars (2003), Ravens (2004) and Lions (2005). He’s totaled 384 receptions for 4,595 yards and 25 touchdowns and had his 2005 season cut short in October due to an Achilles injury.
In recent weeks, the Patriots have been bringing in players at various positions to keep their emergency lists fresh.
