Pass play

The Patriots activated running back Patrick Pass off the physically unable to perform list on Saturday. The move was made before the league's 4 p.m. ET deadline, so Pass is eligible to play in Sunday's game against the Bears.

Pass fills the team's final spot on the 53-man roster. The Patriots had 52 players on the roster after placing punter Josh Miller on injured reserve Friday.

Pass opened the season on the physically unable to perform list. He practiced for the first time on Nov. 8 and the team had until Nov. 28 to decide whether to place Pass on injured reserve (meaning he's lost for the season) or on the active roster.

A seven-year veteran, Pass adds another body to the running back spot, but his primary contributions figure to come on special teams.

While he was activated off the PUP list, that doesn't guarantee he will play Sunday against the Bears, although it would appear likely that Pass would suit up.
