Bush visit

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 18, 07 12:22 PM

The Patriots are hosting Louisville RB Michael Bush on a pre-draft visit today at Gillette Stadium.

The Patriots' scheduled visit with Bush was reported here a few weeks ago, and we're revisiting it to update Bush's recovery from a broken leg suffered in the 2006 season opener. Bush had a titanium rod inserted into the leg after the break, and had a second surgery earlier this year so a larger rod could be inserted.

As for his current status, Bush's agent, Todd France, sent a DVD to all 32 NFL clubs this week. The DVD includes fresh video of Bush following his second surgery, and shows him running 100 yards, box jumping, jumping rope and squatting 225 pounds, among other things.

"We wanted to be proactive," France said of sending the DVD to all teams. "I think there might be an image in some people's minds that he didn't work out at the combine or the pro day, and had a second surgery, and we were concerned that the perception might become reality. It was our version of a medical re-check, showing teams 'here is where he is.' We've gotten great feedback from teams who have seen the tape and are surprised at how far along he is."

The Patriots are one of a handful of teams meeting with Bush before the draft. Bush was projected to be one of the top backs in the draft before breaking his leg, and teams are likely double-checking their medical records on him before stacking their final draft board.
