WR analysis

ANALYSIS

Keeping in mind that playing time will be determined by competition in offseason camps, training camp and preseason games, here is one view of the team's revamped receiver position:

STARTERS: Donte' Stallworth, Randy Moss

RESERVES: Reche Caldwell, Bam Childress, Jabar Gaffney, Chad Jackson, Kelvin Kight, Jonathan Smith, Kelley Washington, Wes Welker

Stallworth and Moss would be the top candidates to line up in two-wide sets. Welker is the top slot man.

Washington, Caldwell and Gaffney figure to push Stallworth and Moss at those outside spots.

The move also buys more time for last year's second-round pick, Chad Jackson, as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered in the AFC championship game Jan. 21. Jackson is a likely candidate to open training camp on the physically unable to perform list.

Childress, Kight and Smith remain longer shots to make the roster. The acquisition of Moss also could factor into whether Troy Brown -- who is recovering from offseason knee surgery -- returns to the team.
