Practice notes

FOXBOROUGH -- The second day of Patriots rookie minicamp practice was held in the Dana Farber Fieldhouse (1-2 p.m.). The rookies essentially went through the same drills as they did on Saturday.

A few observations:

  • Defensive lineman Kareem Brown, the team's fourth-round pick, lined up at nose during a pass coverage drill for the defense. Brown would appear to have some position flexibility to switch between end and nose.

  • One of the players in for a tryout on Saturday, receiver Chris Baker of Rutgers, was not present. The other three players in on tryouts were present.

  • Running back Quinton Smith, an undrafted free agent from Rice, was present after missing Saturday to walk in Rice's graudation.

  • Linebacker Justin Warren, an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M, remained on the sidelines working out on exercise equipment.

  • Every player made it through the practice from a conditioning standpoint.
