Where are they now?

Curious what happened to 1997 Patriots first-round draft choice Chris Canty?

Canty, a cornerback, is in his third season playing for the Rio Grande Valley Dorados of the Arena Football League. His presence still registers on the radar, as the Idaho Press-Tribune notes in a game preview that Canty "spent four seasons playing on football’s biggest stage with the New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks."

Patriots fans remember Canty as a disappointment. Looking back at the first round of the 1997 draft, though, the Patriots weren't alone in misfiring with their late first-round pick. Of the players selected within 10 picks after Canty, offensive lineman Ross Verba, linebacker Jamie Sharper and running back Tiki Barber went on to have the most notable careers.
