Hawkins reacts
Safety Artrell Hawkins commented on his release, telling the Boston Globe's Christopher L. Gasper that he has no hard feelings.
"The door is still open. There's always a possibility that I could come back and be a productive part of the team," he said. "I have nothing but respect for the whole organization, Coach Belichick, Mr. [Robert] Kraft and the players."
Hawkins added that he was appreciative of the timing of the release. While he's interested in a broadcasting career, he'd like to play at least one more season.
"I still love the game," he said, "and I'm not quite ready to call it quits just yet."
SUNDAY LOOK-AHEAD: There is no media access at Gillette Stadium today, as players are off. We'll plan on checking back in Monday, as quarterback Tom Brady is expected to speak with the media.
