Wright stuff

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots held their afternoon practice today in full pads on the fields behind Gillette Stadium. Media was present for stretching and a few positional drills.

Defensive end Mike Wright, who missed Friday night's preseason game against the Titans, returned to practice for the first time since last Tuesday. With both Wright and starter Ty Warren out of Friday's game, second-year player Le Kevin Smith had drawn the start at left defensive end.

Also at practice, the quarterbacks shed their red, non-contact jerseys, wearing the traditional white jerseys for offensive players. That's the first time we've seen that in camp, and is something the QBs did last year, likely to illustrate they want to be considered on the same level as their teammates.

Players not present for the full-pads practice included:

  • WR Jabar Gaffney

  • S Rashad Baker

  • DB Larry Anam

  • OL Russ Hochstein

  • WR Randy Moss

  • TE Kyle Brady

  • DE Ty Warren

None of the five players on the physically unable to perform list were present.
