Caldwell released

The Patriots released receiver Reche Caldwell today.

"They made a lot of moves, and it got crowded over there, and we knew someone would be the odd man out," said Tony Fleming, Caldwell's agent. "We weren't totally shocked."

Caldwell led the team with 61 receptions last season. He was one of six receivers on the final roster formulated Saturday, joining Randy Moss, Donte' Stallworth, Wes Welker, Jabar Gaffney and Kelley Washington.

The release of Caldwell might be tied to the return of Randy Moss to the practice field.
