Practice squad

The Patriots have seven of eight spots filled on their practice squad. A recap of who is eligible for the practice squad and some other practice squad facts:

  • A practice squad player can have no more than nine games on an active list in a previous regular season.

  • A player can spend a maximum of three years on the practice squad.

  • A third-year practice squad player can only be kept if the team has a full complement of 53 players on the active roster.

  • The minimum salary for a practice squad player is $4,700 per week.

  • In the past, the Patriots have paid a full salary to a practice squad player (e.g. Billy Yates). It is not known if they have done that this year.

  • A practice squad player is free to sign with another team to play on their active/inactive list at any time.

EXTRA POINT: There is no media access today at Gillette Stadium.
