Practice squad move

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff September 10, 2007 05:23 PM

The Patriots have signed defensive back Gemara Williams to their practice squad. Williams, a second-year player who spent 2007 training camp with the Patriots, had been released Aug. 18.

"I think he's in a good position to potentially move up to the roster," said John Pace, Williams' agent.

Williams flashed some promise on kickoff returns in the preseason, returning two for 64 yards in the preseason opener against Tampa Bay. After that game, he had been sidelined by a hamstring injury.
