Belichick in focus
Bill Belichick is the focus of a story on NBCSports.com that takes a closer look at what makes him tick. Writer Tom Curran notes that in the wake of the Patriots' dominating start, "Two lines have formed -- one full of backslappers, the other backbiters."
Belichick shares his reaction to that.
"Do you think joy for me is to pick up the Monday paper and read some article by somebody or other saying how great we are?" he asked Curran. "You think that’s what drives me? You think on Monday if I pick up an article that says 'Belichick this' or 'Belichick that' you think that ruins my day? ... You know as well as I do that all those magazines and (everything) … the ones that sell the most are the ones that have the lists. They rate the top 10, the bottom 10 -- I’ve been on both at the same time, top and bottom. How does that happen? I’ve been on every list. When you’re on every list, you know. I understand how it works. Two guys write for the same paper. One guy writes one thing, the other guy writes something else. Two guys on a radio show, one guy’s this; the other guy’s that. It’s not exactly the first time we’ve seen this.”
