MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Comments from Bill Belichick's post-game press conference:
"Well, it was a good win today. I thought our team played well offensively, especially. We moved the ball and scored a lot of points. It's something we haven't done very much of down here, so it's good to feel that and experience that. Things tightened up there a little bit at the end, but we had a nice drive there, hit Wes [Welker] on that last touchdown, and I felt like we needed that. We didn't tackle very well defensively all day, particularly in the second half. A lot less than impressive. But overall, when you score those kind of points, you have a chance. The guys did a real good job offensively."
What did you see on the touchdown catches by Randy Moss?
"I was pretty far away from both of them. You guys probably saw them better than I did. It looked like he went and took the ball away from a couple guys. But I was a long way away."
Is that a skill that makes him rare?
"He has great ball skills. It's not just the long balls. He does a good job on all of them. We've seen him do it before."
Maroney didn't play much. Would you have limited him regardless of the way the game went?
"We played the game the way it came out."
How did you think he looked?
"We'll look at the film."
What was your view of Willie Andrews' kickoff return for a touchdown?
"It looked like they kicked it away from the way we had the return set. I didn't get a great look at it. There were a lot of bodies flying around. Willie has done a good for us in the kicking game, he's one of our core guys. He shows up on everything. He's fast."
After Matt Cassel threw the interception returned for a touchdown, you put Tom Brady back in. Why?
"Because of the score."
And the other quarterback, Matt Gutierrez? Was something wrong with Matt Cassel that Gutierrez went in?
"We were just trying to win the game, that's all. We were just trying to win the game."
But the score was 42-21
"Yeah, one more turnover and it's a 14-point game in the middle of the fourth quarter. Yeah, I was at the game."
Is that why you went to the two-minute offense at the end of the first half?
"It's the first half. It's the first half. Look, we've all seen games -- the Tampa-Indianapolis game a couple of years ago, 21 points in four minutes, whatever it is -- I mean, don't tell me about leads in this league. Until the final gun goes off, it's not a win."
Have you seen Tom Brady play as good a half as he did in the first half?
"Tom's played some pretty good football for us. He played well today. He played well today."
