Seymour activated
The Patriots have activated DL Richard Seymour to their active roster today. Seymour opened the year on the physically unable to perform list and missed the first seven games due to his knee. A five-time Pro Bowler, he had returned to practice Wednesday.
The Patriots had an open roster spot after waiving DL Santonio Thomas on Thursday.
Seymour, a fixture at right defensive end in the Patriots' 3-4 defense, is one of seven linemen on the roster. He joins starters Ty Warren (end) and Vince Wilfork (nose), with Jarvis Green, Mike Wright, Le Kevin Smith and Kareem Brown rounding out the depth chart.
Earlier this week, safety Rodney Harrison talked about the impact of Seymour returning to practice.
"To add a guy who has been a tremendous mainstay on our defensive line, a guy that's very big, physical, strong, can do it all -- rush the passer, stop the run -- just his presence along with his leadership will be tremendous for us," he said. "Of course, I feel like he'll give us a spark, just like when we get any of our guys back."

(20)Yes! Get him ready for that Colts game. I, like the rest of New England, want revenge for that AFC Championship game. I hope Seymour completely beats up that new left tackle for Indy and haunts Peyton all day long
Get in there! Time to work off that humble pie.
couldn't have said it better
Having Seymour back should sure up the Pats suspect-D... they've been pourous and the Pats as a whole have been so shaky so far...
(Bwah! HAhahahaHAHAHAHA!)
Get nice, Pats fans! As if we all forgot, that they CAN indeed be better than they have been!
Can you imagine that? We are getting Seymour back, eventually Morris, Watson and right now we are 7-0.
Peyton meet Mr Richard Seymour!
Schaweet! Got get 'em, Seymour!
Hey Mike.
I live for your well researched, well written and insightful articles. I know there is a game tomorrow...but really dude, it's Saturday! Do you take any time off?
Hey Mike
Can this team get any better! Seymour will give a huge boost to the d and teams can't try running to Seymour's side anymore and just in time for the Colts he can build up here and play like himself against the Colts Go Pats!!!
Finally I can wear my Seymour shirt again. Welcome back 93!!
Get some work in tomorrow and be ready for Indy.
Talk down here in DC is that the Skins can win tomorrow. But don't forget that this is the land of fantasy.
Exactly what is needed after several mediocre perfromances against the run.
Right on- now the Pats will be able to shore up their only "kinda-sorta-maybe" weakness. Look out, NFL!!!!
Seymour is to the defense what Brady is to the offense. I think having him back at 100% will make a huge difference to the skill and stamina of the D-line. But we don't know how much he is in game shape, and let's not forget about the Redskins -- they have played every game tough this year. Having Richard back is the best news we could have gotten!
Good time for Big Sey to return. Go carefully with him against the Redskins. Let him get his gametime legs back slowly and have him ready to go against the Colts.
Patsox: They can win....at least that's the perception that every NFL team has on ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, as they say.
I think that we will see the Pats offense shred that, alleged, Superior Skins defense. If Brady has the time, he will pick them apart, in my very humble opinion.
Hi Mike - This is very good news. The run defense needs Richard there. This will allow him to get into better shape and his presence will inspire the rest of the defense. I just hope that they utilize his play time wisely so as to not create any more physical problems. Joe Gibbs has been psyching his team that they are not getting any respect and is pumping their egos. This is definitely a trap game possibility - hopefully the one game at a time mantra of the Patriots holds true. Forget about the colts right now - SKIN THOSE SKINS!!
Perfect.A game to get the rust off,and then full-speed against Indy.Note tot he rest of the NFL:be afraid,be very afraid.
WONDERFUL...just WONDERFUL!!!!
But Beware; the Pats need to go to INDY with clear minds, and plenty of fluids available.... as well as in perfect shape.
Article were abundant after the Indy game in the playoffs that the inside temperature was between 86-90 degrees during the second half of the game last playoffs (proof can be found on video of their fans sweating like it was summer.... The patriots better come in primed and ready to play. Hopefully this week they will not get caught looking ahead.
zero seconds to sack!!!! Good end of the commercial.
Hey Mike, great news on Seymour. I know it's impossible to address too many of these comment questions, but I'll throw one out anyway. How has Seymour looked at practice. Have you noticed him favoring the knee?
The rich get richer.
Great news hearing that Seymour is returning after a lengthy
delay with a bad knee. That's one more pillar of strength for the D line as future opponents will learn. The Pats are rounding out to be a super team that will go down in history.
