Seymour at practice

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The Patriots have begun their afternoon practice and DL Richard Seymour is present.

Seymour has been on the physically unable to perform list. This starts the clock on Seymour's 21-day window in which the Patriots must decide whether to activate him to the roster or place him on season-ending injured reserve.

This is indeed good news.A great team just got better.A fresh and healthy Richard Seymour makes the DL whole again.

"Yeeeeehaaaa...!!!" Getting him ready for Indy...

Awesome. Welcome back 93

It's nice to hear he is practicing, but what is his status health-wise? Is he a week or two away from game ready, or is this a test to see if he's fit for the season? It's been so long I don't remember what the injury even is!

Belichick would cringe at thinking beyond the next game but this plays well for the Indy game. This will give Indy something to think about. If he is activated he will be activated as late as possible before that game.

I love how Belichick uses every resource (on and off the field) to the max!

Great News. Our DL has just been upgraded to an A plus

A note of caution, there's a good reason why Seymour was placed on the PUP list...and he's been slow to recover from his injury. He's not going to come off and be 100%..in fact, he'll be far from "fresh and healthy". Obviously this is very good news but let's not get too excited.

Just in time for Indy...Gives him 2 weeks of practice to prepare...Belichek told him to take the first 7 weeks off and get healthy and ready for INDY...Good move!

Was he dressed? DId he have the red "no contact" jersey on?

It's great he is at least back at practice, but until I see him in a game I am not getting too excited.

Having the SeyMonster at 75% to bring in on 3rd down would be a boost to the D against Indy.

There was a rumor floating out of coastal NH back in Sept. that said that he was actually questionable for the season not just the six weeks per the PUP protocol. Never heard anything more about it anywhere else so I'm curious to see what his actual playing status might be here in the near term.

RUSH DEFENSE WILL GET BETTER. NOT TAKING ANYTHING AWAY FROM THE OTHER D-LMEN

If it is true he is recovering from a staph infection from his surgery...he will need a long while to get back his strength and stamina... at least he is making progress..... dont expect a big impact til at least december..

Tells you how important they think that Indy game is. Home field is what they want and this is prep for claiming it Nov. 4th.

Mr. SEYMORE SHOULD STAY OUT FOR THE SEASON. IF HE IS HEALTHY BY NEXT YEAR, THAT WILL BE GOOD NEWS. THE REAL QUESTION IS WILL HE EVER BE HEALTHY ENOUGH TO PLAY AT 100% EFFECTIVENESS AGAIN. A KNEE INJURY IS OFTEN DIFFICULT TO REPAIR,AND CERTAINLY NOT FOR HIS FORMER ABILITY.

trade the slacker! Who needs defense anyway?

We really haven't stopped the run all year with the exception of the San Diego game. Dallas, Buff. and recently Miami chunked up yardage on our second half defense and the main stoppers on the line was the Seymour / Wolfork combo. Even at half speed he frees up all our Linebackers to pass rush instead of hold the line against the run.

I'm nervous about the timming of this. They have waited so long. This could be the final 21 days they have to make a decision on weather to shelf him for the season.
