Tom's take

By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

Some comments from QB Tom Brady following the Patriots' win:

What is your personal satisfaction level to set a new career high with five touchdown passes on a game that was so hyped up?
"It's really early in the season. The reality is that it's a win on the road. We're 6-0. I'm happy about that. Any time we're winning, I'm doing just fine. The season doesn't really start until after Thanksgiving anyway. We're trying to win as many of these games as we can, establish some depth, and continue to get better each week. Guys really stepped up. There were some guys that went out with injuries and other guys really stepped in and made some great plays in roles that they really haven't had to make. That was great to see."

Is there a point where you say -- 'five touchdown passes, I've never done that before'?
"I don't do that. I just kind of keep plugging along. I really look at each play as an individual play. If Coach asked me to make a play on third down in the red area, and it's a touchdown, great. If we run it in, great. Touchdowns are really not very important to me. I think winning the game is what's most important, getting the team in the end zone, making first downs. There is a lot that goes into playing quarterback. When you win, I think that's the most satisfying thing, more than throwing touchdown passes."

Do you think about breaking Peyton Manning's record?
"I haven't thought about it at all. Really. I don't set my goals like that. That's not what our team is all about. I'd love to set plenty of team records."

This is what I love about Tom, he is not only a team leader on the field, he is the biggest buyer into the Belicheck way to play week to week. Total team first. we all are not just fortunate, but privilaged to get to live through, what surely will be remembered in history as one of the best tun in football history. I am in awe of it now, and its still on-going...

I love this guy!

Can he really be is good of a guy as he is a football player? Or does he just speak the way that he does because he is planning or running for public office when he retires?

One way or the other he's got me believing that he's a much better person than I am.

Now, there is a classy player who really understand what true goals are. There are so many players who only care about "numero uno" and miss out on the bigger goals in sports (let alone life). It's not surprising though...it's a reflection on society as a whole. To bad there aren't more Brady's in football and in life in general.
